The Superintendent of Schools' office is located approximately 1 mile south of the Woodfords Junction of State Routes 88 and 89. Travel 1/2 mile south on State Rte. 89 and turn left down Diamond Valley Road, traveling an additional 1/2 mile.

 

Services provided by the Superintendent of Schools include:

  • Assisting the Alpine County Unified School District in their effort to optimize existing resources and safeguard public funds in accordance with legal and accepted fiscal practices
  • Facilitating the ACUSD's recruitment, retention, and support of certificated and classified personnel
  • Accepting California teacher credential processing registration along with information required and forms for California credentials
  • Coordinating curriculum development efforts with the State Curriculum Framework Cycle
  • Providing teacher and other support staff education and development
  • Providing access to media, technology, and library services to support and enhance effective instructional practices
  • Providing other student activities, events, direct programs, and special education planning
  • Collecting, organizing, reporting, and interpreting data on school operations and outcomes
  • Examining school performance and appraising the extent of compliance with state policy intitiatives and mandates


The Superintendent of Schools administers several programs, including:

  • The Alpine County Unified School District - The District Office and the County Office are a combined administration.
  • The Diamond Valley / County Superintendent Library - located on the Diamond Valley School site at 35 Hawkside Drive, Markleeville, CA 96120.
  • An Opportunity Class - located at 96 Washoe Blvd. in Woodfords, CA. The mailing adddress is 43 Hawkside Drive, Markleeville, CA 96120.
  • The Alpine County Adult Education Program - administered in conjunction with the Alpine County Social Services Department. It operates the Welfare to Work program, Cal Learn program for pregnant and parenting teens, the Community Services program, the ABE (Adult Basic Education) program and GED (General Education Development) program.
