The commission was established July 17, 1984 by Alpine County Ordinance No. 441-84 and amended by Ordinance No. 639-02. The commission was created as an advisory commission to the Board of Supervisors to consider applications for repeal, modification, or amendment of the agreement between the South Tahoe Public Utility District and the County of Alpine and the Alpine County Water Agency, as amended.
Seven members, appointed by the Board of Supervisors to serve at the pleasure of the Board. Membership comprised of two members from the Board of Supervisors, two selected Alpine County department heads, two public members and one member representing agriculture within the County. County Clerk serves as the ex-officio clerk of the commission.
