Alpine County will be conducting prescribed fire (pile burning) operations beginning the week of December 9th, 2024 along the Highway 89 corridor between Woodfords and Markleeville. During this time, smoke may be visible, there will be increased fuels management crew activities, and prescribed fire signage will be placed indicating burning operations are commencing. Similar to last year, piles may be left to burn overnight and may be visible from the roadway after dark. Please be careful as there will be a number of fire personnel in the area to conduct the operation.
