Due to extreme weather conditions that significantly increase the risk of wildfire, Liberty Utilities has notified Alpine County that a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) will occur for portions of the county. The power shutoff is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 5, at or around 1:00 a.m.
The outage may last longer than 36 hours. Residents are advised to plan for extended loss of power and prepare backup energy sources, charging devices, and necessary medical and emergency supplies.
Community Resource Centers
If you are unable to secure alternative power, three Community Resource Centers will be open on Wednesday, November 5, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and 10am to 4pm at the following locations:
- Woodfords Community Center
96 Washoe Blvd., Markleeville, CA - Walker Community Center
442 Mule Deer Drive, Walker, CA - Alpine County Behavioral Health Center
40 Diamond Valley Road
Open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
These centers will provide device charging, water, basic resources, and information updates.
